Best for Video Calls

Quick summary

A near-clear lens in a thin metal frame — the least conspicuous version of this product. No colour cast on camera, and very little filtering, which are the same fact stated two ways.

Best for
People on video calls all day, and anyone who wants the accessory without a visible tint.
Not ideal for
Evening use aimed at sleep, and anyone who wants the lens to be doing something they can detect.
Overall value
Fine at the price. You are buying a discreet frame, and you should buy it knowing the lens is the least active one here.

What we like

  • No visible colour cast, so you look normal on camera and your screen looks the way the designer intended.
  • Thin metal frames are unobtrusive in a way acetate is not — closer to ordinary glasses than to an accessory.
  • Light on the face, which is what you want for a pair worn through a working day.
  • Priced with the budget frames despite looking more expensive than they are.

What we don't

  • The filtering is minimal by design. If you want the circadian effect, this is the wrong category of lens and no amount of wearing them will change that.
  • Wire frames bend back into shape, but the hinge screws work loose over time and need tightening.
  • No published transmission data, so the lens claim is unverifiable.
  • Thin metal is easier to distort in a bag than acetate is.

How we evaluate

We have not put these lenses in front of a spectrophotometer or worn them for a month, and we will not pretend otherwise. This review synthesises what the manufacturer publishes, the retailer's stated return and warranty terms, patterns in public buyer reports, and the peer-reviewed evidence on the category. Every claim below is labelled by where it came from, and anything we could not confirm is listed as unconfirmed.

The detail

Lens and tint

Near-clear, and that is the entire point of the product. A lens with no visible colour cast is a lens that removes only a small share of short-wavelength light, because the visible cast is what removing that light looks like. There is no lens that filters heavily and looks clear, and any listing implying otherwise is describing something that does not exist.

This makes the product coherent for one use and incoherent for another. On camera, it is the best choice here. For evening wind-down, it is close to pointless — a deep tint is the only honest option for that.

Frame, build and durability

Thin metal frames with the strengths and weaknesses that implies. They flex rather than snap, so the catastrophic acetate failure is less likely. In exchange, they distort if crushed and the hinge screws loosen with use — buyers report this regularly, and a jeweller's screwdriver handles it.

Treat these as a desk pair rather than a bag pair and they will do fine.

Comfort and long-term wear

Light and unobtrusive, which is most of what matters over an eight-hour day. Metal frames can leave pressure marks at the nose pads on some faces; that is a fit question rather than a product flaw, and returns are how you resolve it.

Prescription options

Sold as non-prescription. If you need correction, buy the prescription first and treat filtering as an optional extra rather than the reason for the purchase.

Returns and warranty

Retailer returns are the practical recourse, as with everything at this price. Check the current window on the listing before ordering, since fit is the thing you will be returning for.

Overall value

A reasonable buy for a specific job: you want glasses at your desk, you are on camera often, and you do not want to explain a tint to anyone. Buy it for that. Do not buy it expecting to feel a difference from the lens.

Who should buy it

You are on video calls most of the day and want a discreet pair that does not tint your screen or your face.

Who should skip it

You are buying for sleep or evening light — a near-clear lens cannot do that job, and buying one for it is self-defeating.

What else to consider

  • Uvex Skyper (SCT-Orange)

The opposite product. Unwearable on camera, and the only lens type here that meaningfully removes short-wavelength light.

  • TIJN blue light frames

Similar money in acetate rather than metal, with more frame shapes to choose from.

Common questions

Do clear blue light lenses actually do anything?
They remove a small fraction of short-wavelength light — much less than a tinted lens. For eye strain, the trial evidence does not support a benefit from either. For evening light and sleep, a clear lens is too weak to be a fair test.
Will these show up on camera?
That is what they are for. The near-clear lens is the reason to choose this pair over a tinted one, and it is the attribute buyers praise most consistently.
Can I wear these in the evening for better sleep?
You can, but you should not expect much. The mechanism people are relying on depends on removing a substantial amount of short-wavelength light, and a clear lens does not.
